Leyen: We stand firmly by our member states
Brussels, March 2 (Hibya) - President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen spoke with Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulidis following an attempted drone attack on the British base in Akrotiri, Cyprus.
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen made a statement regarding the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) incident targeting the British base in Akrotiri on the island of Cyprus.
After holding a meeting with the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulidis, von der Leyen said, “He informed me shortly after midnight about a single incident involving a drone targeting the British base in Akrotiri.”
Concluding her statement, Leyen said, “Although the Republic of Cyprus was not a target, I want to make this clear: In the face of any threat, we stand collectively, firmly and without hesitation by our member states.”
