Leyen: The EU stands in full solidarity with the people of Denmark and Greenland
Brussels, January 17 (Hibya) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the European Union (EU) stands in full solidarity with the people of Denmark and Greenland.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that territorial integrity and sovereignty are fundamental principles of international law, noting that they are of vital importance for Europe and for the international community as a whole.
Leyen said: “We have consistently underlined our shared transatlantic interest in peace and security in the Arctic, including within NATO. The Danish exercise, conducted together with allies and coordinated in advance, responds to the need to strengthen Arctic security and does not pose a threat to anyone.”
Stressing that the EU stands in full solidarity with the people of Denmark and Greenland, Leyen added:
“Tariffs weaken transatlantic relations and carry the risk of a dangerous downward spiral. Europe will remain united, coordinated, and determined to protect its sovereignty.”
