European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that their sole final goal is peace for Ukraine through strength.

Emphasizing that this European Commission is taking office at a very important time, Leyen said: “This European Commission comes at a very important moment. We have one single final goal: peace for Ukraine through strength.”

Noting that there are two proposals on the table at the meeting, Commission President Leyen concluded her remarks by saying: “Meeting Ukraine’s financial needs for 2026–2027 is essential for this. There are two proposals on the table. We agreed that we will find a solution today.”
