Lazzarini’s Ramadan message
Gaza, February 18 (Hibya) – The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, drew attention to the humanitarian situation in Gaza in a message issued on the occasion of the beginning of Ramadan.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini issued a message marking the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan in the Islamic world.
“Ramadan Kareem to everyone observing the beginning of this month,” Lazzarini said, noting that this period is a time for reflection, compassion, and supporting those most in need.
Lazzarini stated that for the third consecutive year, families in Gaza are welcoming Ramadan amid an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe—living in tents and among the ruins, dependent on aid to survive. He added that UNRWA continues to support Palestinian refugees in Gaza and across the region.
