Lazzarini: More than a thousand Palestinians have died in the West Bank
New York, March 19 (Hibya) - Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), announced that more than a thousand Palestinians have died in the West Bank since October 2023.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Lazzarini stated that more than a thousand Palestinians have died in the West Bank since October 2023, with approximately one quarter of the victims being children.
Lazzarini emphasized that increasing violence by Israeli settlers and armed forces continues with impunity, saying: "This fuels violence. Meanwhile, with the expansion of settlements, de facto annexation continues to accelerate."
Recalling that the International Court of Justice ruled that Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, is illegal, Lazzarini said: "International law applies to everyone, everywhere. There can be no exceptions."
