Lahbib: Women and children pay the heaviest price of wars
Brussels, February 2 (Hibya) – European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib evaluated the report “The War Watch – IHL in Focus Report 2025.”
Lahbib stated that the report clearly shows that wars impose a heavy toll on human life, stressing that this burden is borne particularly by women and children.
Emphasizing the vital importance of the effective implementation of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), Lahbib noted that the necessary legal instruments already exist. She added that these tools must be implemented with determination, pointing out that humanitarian leadership is a choice and that the European Union must assume responsibility in this regard.
