European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib stated in a post on her social media account that Canada is an important like-minded donor in the field of humanitarian assistance.

Highlighting shared values, principles and priorities, Lahbib noted that the discussions addressed respect for international humanitarian law, effective reform of the humanitarian aid system and stronger partnerships with development actors and the private sector.

Lahbib said she had held productive discussions with Canadian political representatives and humanitarian actors.
