Dutch Prime Minister Jetten issued a condolence message following the passing of Sonja Barend.

In his message, Jetten stated that Barend was one of the most important figures in Dutch television history as the “queen of talk shows,” adding, “With her passing, we are losing a great figure of Dutch television history.”

Jetten noted that Barend was remembered across generations with the phrase “Morgen gezond weer op” (Wake up healthy again tomorrow), also highlighting her professional approach.

He further stated that her interviews, conducted with a warm, critical, and professional style, set standards in broadcasting, and that the best television interview is honored each year with the Sonja Barend Award.

Rob Jetten concluded his statement by saying, “In this sad time, my thoughts are with her loved ones.”
