Guterres calls on everyone to strengthen the ceasefire
New York, October 13 (Hibya) – United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on everyone to strengthen the ceasefire and turn it into lasting peace.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in his statement: "With the ceasefire taking effect, the people of Gaza and Israel are beginning to see the fragile hope of calm after months of devastation."
Guterres noted that the UN and its partners are rapidly scaling up operations to reach communities in areas that have been inaccessible for months and deliver life-saving aid. He added: "However, needs remain enormous, and sustainable access and funding are critical. I call on everyone to strengthen the ceasefire and turn it into lasting peace."
