Ghebreyesus: Thousands die every day from tuberculosis
Geneva, May 22 (Hibya) – WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced that approximately 3,500 people die every day due to tuberculosis.
WHO Director-General Dr. Ghebreyesus stated that around 3,500 people die daily from tuberculosis and approximately 30,000 contract this preventable and treatable disease.
Ghebreyesus emphasized that the current financial and aid environment has significant impacts across many sectors, including tuberculosis, adding: “We must hold leaders accountable for their commitments and the concrete, measurable goals they have set.”
