Frederiksen: Since Russia’s invasion, a courageous people have been defending their country and freedom
Copenhagen, August 23 (Hibya) – Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen will meet President Volodymyr Zelensky in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, to discuss air defense and cooperation in the defense industry.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen will meet not only with Zelensky but also with the leaders of other Nordic and Baltic countries as part of discussions on Ukraine’s needs and the development of cooperation in the defense industry. The Danish prime minister will also attend a commemorative program marking Ukraine’s Flag Day.
Frederiksen stressed that military support for Ukraine must continue, saying, “For 1,641 days and nights, Putin’s bombs have been raining down on Ukraine. Since Russia’s full-scale invasion, a courageous people have been defending their country and their freedom. They are fighting for the freedom of Europe.”
Noting that Ukraine is resisting attacks on civilians, schools and hospitals, Frederiksen said, “We must continue the military support that Ukraine needs. Right now, Ukraine urgently needs strengthened air defense. We must do everything we can to address this.”
Frederiksen said that in this context they had formed a coalition for defense against ballistic missiles, adding, “We must develop a modern European missile defense built on the capabilities and experience of both Ukraine and Europe. We must strengthen joint development, accelerate the process and shorten production times.”
