Foreign ministers of Pakistan and Azerbaijan held talks
New York, May 26 (Hibya) - Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met on the sidelines of the United Nations (UN) Security Council open session to discuss bilateral relations and areas of cooperation.
Dar met with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Bayramov on the margins of the UN Security Council open session held in New York.
During the meeting, commitment to the United Nations Charter and the principles of state sovereignty and territorial integrity was emphasized.
The parties highlighted the importance of strengthening the role of Global South countries in the international system.
The statement noted that defense relations between the two countries have been strengthening and that contacts at the political leadership level have added momentum to cooperation.
It was also stated that consensus was reached on a preferential trade agreement, optimizing transit trade frameworks, and expanding cooperation in the fields of energy and LNG.
