Elon Musk unveils ''Cybercab'' robotaxi
Los Angeles, October 11 (Hibya) - Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Thursday outlined his company's vision of a "fun, exciting future" filled with autonomous cars without steering wheels, parking lots converted into parks and robots that will walk among the population, promising again that these will be available within a few years.
Whether he can deliver on those promises remains to be seen.
Elon Musk's ''Cybercab'' robotaxi will have two doors with no steering wheel or pedals.
Speaking on stage at a press conference in Los Angeles, Musk said production of the driverless taxis is expected to begin in 2026. He said the price per vehicle would be under $30,000.
The showpiece event in California featured robotaxi models and the ''Robovan,'' a driverless vehicle designed to carry more people or goods.
Musk's plan is for Tesla to be responsible for operating autonomous taxis in the future, which passengers can hail via an app.
