Dar: PIA flight ban to the United Kingdom lifted
Islamabad, July 16 (Hibya) – Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar announced that the flight ban on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to the United Kingdom has been lifted.
Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar announced that the flight ban on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to the United Kingdom has been lifted.
Dar stated that intense diplomatic efforts were undertaken alongside technical and regulatory alignments with the UK authorities to lift the ban. He said:
"The foundation for this important development was laid during the previous PDM Government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif (2022–23). During that time, significant reforms were implemented, including three key legislative measures that enabled PIA and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to meet ICAO requirements. As a result of these reforms, flights to Europe resumed in November 2024."
