Cuba rejects accusation that it poses a threat to U.S. security
Havana, February 19 (Hibya) - The Cuban Ministry of Justice reiterated that Cuba is not a drug-producing country and stated that the claim that the country poses a threat to U.S. national security is unfounded.
According to CCTV, at a press conference held Tuesday in Havana, the Cuban Ministry of Justice reaffirmed that Cuba is not a drug-producing country and said that the allegation that the country constitutes a threat to U.S. national security is baseless.
Speaking at the press conference organized to inform journalists about the country’s progress in combating drug-related crimes, Minister of Justice and President of the National Drug Commission Rosabel Gamon Verde stated that despite the complexities and uncertainties in international relations, Cuba maintains its firm stance in the fight against drug consumption and illegal trafficking.
Verde said, “We once again confirm that Cuba is neither a producer, a storage center, nor a transit route for drugs destined for third countries. We also reiterate the political will of the Cuban state and government to address this issue through a comprehensive approach.”
Cuban anti-narcotics and border security officials stated that Cuba will continue to share intelligence information related to the United States, thereby providing an effective line of defense in the U.S. fight against drug trafficking.
