China’s Commerce Minister Wang meets global pharmaceutical representatives in Beijing
Beijing, March 21 (Hibya) - China’s Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao held a high-level dialogue meeting in Beijing with leading global representatives of the pharmaceutical sector.
According to CCTV, the meeting brought together senior executives of multinational giants such as Novartis, AstraZeneca, Roche, Boehringer Ingelheim and Organon.
Minister Wang emphasized that the pharmaceutical industry is vital for human health and listened to companies’ views and suggestions regarding their development in China.
Representatives of the U.S. pharmaceutical sector highlighted that China is one of the fastest-growing markets in the world and that its invitation for deeper participation of international companies sends a “signal of openness.”
Stephen J. Ubl, CEO of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), stated that China is assuming an increasingly important global role in the innovative pharmaceutical sector.
During the meeting, topics such as increasing investment opportunities in the Chinese market and strengthening innovation-focused cooperation were discussed.
