An open, detailed, and constructive dialogue took place on China-US relations, the situation in the Asia-Pacific region, including relevant regional policies, and international and regional concerns of mutual interest.
Sun Weidong reiterated China's policy toward Taiwan and emphasized that the One-China principle forms the basis for peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. He also expressed China's stance on the US "Indo-Pacific Strategy" and policies in the South China Sea. Sun Weidong stated, "The positive interaction between China and the US in the Asia-Pacific not only serves the common interests of both sides but also aligns with the common desire of countries in the region."
Both sides agreed to continue communication on Asia-Pacific issues. On the same day, Sun Weidong also met with US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland.
