Carney: I am devastated by the horrific shootings in Tumbler Ridge
Ottawa, February 11 (Hibya) - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed his condolences to the families of the victims following the shootings in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.
Prime Minister Carney issued a written statement regarding the shootings in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. Carney said, "Today, I am devastated by the horrific shootings in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. My thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families and friends who have lost loved ones as a result of these terrible acts of violence."
Carney stated that he is grieving along with Canadians: "I grieve with those whose lives have been irreparably changed today, and I am grateful for the courage and selflessness of the first responders who risked their lives to protect their fellow citizens."
Highlighting the importance of solidarity in times of crisis, Carney remarked, "Our ability to come together in times of crisis is one of our country's greatest strengths — empathy, unity, and compassion for each other."
Prime Minister Carney also noted that he had met with British Columbia Premier David Eby to extend his condolences, and he had also spoken with Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree, who is coordinating federal response efforts.
Carney mentioned that authorities are in close contact with local authorities: "Our officers are in close contact to ensure that the community is supported in the best way possible. The Government of Canada stands with all British Columbians facing this horrific tragedy."
