Call from Fletcher regarding South Sudan
New York, February 26 (Hibya) – United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher stated that many people in South Sudan urgently need food, shelter, and support.
Fletcher said that local communities are supporting those who have been forced to flee, but that this is not enough.
During his visits to Malakal, Akobo, and Juba, Fletcher conveyed that people are calling for peace in South Sudan, saying, "Many people right now are in urgent need of food, shelter, and support."
