Budrys: Iran’s drone attack in Nakhchivan violates international law
Vilnius, March 6 (Hibya) - Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys held a phone call with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys spoke by phone with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and condemned Iran’s drone attack targeting civilian infrastructure in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Emphasizing that such actions violate international law and increase the risk of further escalation in the region, Budrys said: “Lithuania stands in full solidarity with Azerbaijan and with all countries affected by Iran’s recent unprovoked attacks. Respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity must remain one of the cornerstones of international relations.”
Budrys called on Iran to halt its military activities, stressing that such steps undermine regional stability.
It was also reported that the bilateral agenda between Lithuania and Azerbaijan was discussed during the call and the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries was reaffirmed.
