Budrys: Enlargement is a geopolitical necessity for peace and security
Vilnius, May 8 (Hibya) - Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys stated in Vilnius on the eve of Europe Day that the EU’s policy of unity and enlargement is critical for Europe’s future.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Budrys highlighted the European Union’s message of unity and solidarity during an event held in Vilnius ahead of Europe Day.
Budrys described the European Union flag as “a strong symbol that protects, strengthens, and carries the ideals of peace and solidarity set out in the Schuman Declaration.”
Recalling that Lithuania has completed 22 years of EU membership, Budrys said that the process has made the country more resilient, stronger, and a more active actor in Europe’s future.
Emphasizing that EU enlargement remains a geopolitical necessity today, Budrys stated that it is critically important for peace, security, and prosperity in Europe.
Budrys added that Lithuania’s experience also serves as an example for Ukraine and Moldova, noting that these countries see the European path not only as a political choice but also as a shared hope for a stronger and freer Europe.
