Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Shaheen met with British Consul General in Jerusalem, Helen Winterton.

Welcoming the upgrade of the Palestinian diplomatic mission in London to an embassy, Shaheen stressed the need for serious efforts to further develop bilateral relations and to adhere to the New York Declaration.

Shaheen also emphasized the importance of strengthening the current ceasefire and ensuring its sustainability, noting that priority should be given to the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid and the rehabilitation of basic infrastructure.

Calling on the United Kingdom to intensify its efforts and apply pressure to achieve a political solution, Shaheen underlined the unity of Palestinian territories between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Winterton, for her part, expressed satisfaction with deepening the historical dimension of Palestinian-UK relations, stressing the importance of developing and strengthening this legacy through bilateral relations and addressing shared challenges.
