Biden reaffirmed "America's unwavering commitment to Israel's security"
Stockholm, April 14 (Hibya) - Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke by phone with US President Joe Biden for 25 minutes at 04:00 Israeli time, just as the airstrike appeared to have ended.
After the call, Biden told Netanyahu that he had reaffirmed, "America's unwavering commitment to Israel's security."
Biden said he would convene G7 leaders on Sunday "to coordinate a unified diplomatic response to Iran's brazen attack" and added:
"My team will be in touch with our counterparts in the region. We will also be in close contact with Israel's leaders, and while we have not seen an attack on our forces or facilities today, we will remain vigilant against all threats and will not hesitate to take all necessary steps to protect our people."
An IDF official said the Israeli leadership would consider its response early Sunday.
Meanwhile, Israel has called an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to condemn the attack. The meeting is expected to take place at 09:00 PM on Sunday.
