Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a phone call with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

During the call, Araghchi emphasized Iran’s good-neighbor policy toward Azerbaijan and stated that Tehran wants to develop relations between the two countries in all areas.

Referring to the explosions that occurred on Thursday in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Araghchi rejected claims that any ammunition or missiles had been fired from Iran toward Nakhchivan and said that Iran’s Armed Forces are conducting the necessary investigations into the incident.

Araghchi also stated that such attacks are carried out to divert public attention and damage Iran’s friendly relations with its neighbors, pointing particularly to Israel’s role. He noted that similar incidents have occurred in recent days.

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi expressed sorrow over the injury of several Azerbaijani citizens in the incident and wished the wounded a speedy recovery.
