Aliyev: Azerbaijan ranks first in the world in pipeline natural gas supply
Baku, March 4 (Hibya) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced during the Southern Gas Corridor and Green Energy Advisory Council meetings held in Baku that Azerbaijani gas reaches 16 countries and production could be increased.
President of Azerbaijan Aliyev made statements at the 12th Southern Gas Corridor Ministerial Meeting and the 4th Green Energy Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting held in Baku.
Aliyev noted that 10 member states of the European Union (EU) receive natural gas from Azerbaijan and said that export capacity could be increased in the coming years with new gas production from Azerbaijani fields.
The president said: “Currently the number of countries receiving Azerbaijani gas has reached 16. With this number, Azerbaijan ranks first in the world in terms of the number of countries it supplies with pipeline gas.”
Aliyev also emphasized the importance of cooperation in the energy cable project that will extend to Europe via the Black Sea and the energy cable that will come to Azerbaijan from Central Asia.
Ilham Aliyev also stated: “Azerbaijan plays the role of a reliable transit country for energy resources. Our contribution to energy security is not limited only to our borders or the Southern Gas Corridor.”
