Albanese: We must continue manufacturing in Australia
Canberra, March 20 (Hibya) - Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that support for the steel production facilities in Whyalla is paying off, emphasizing that domestic production is of vital importance for local employment and national security.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese made a statement on the country’s industrial strategy and local production capacity during his visit to the Whyalla region in the state of South Australia.
Highlighting the strategic importance of domestic production, Albanese said, "We must continue manufacturing in Australia. For local jobs. And for our security."
Evaluating the results of the steps taken to protect the steel industry in Whyalla, Prime Minister Albanese said, "In Whyalla, we stepped in to support thousands of jobs and to ensure the continuation of steel production in Australia. One year later, the steel produced here is being used in the roads, railways, hospitals, and schools that Australia needs."
Stating that they are working in coordination with South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas, Albanese said, "Together with Premier Malinauskas, we are supporting workers and building the future of South Australia."
