Wong: Australians in non-essential roles in Lebanon instructed to leave the country
Canberra, March 13 (Hibya) - Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs has decided that personnel in non-essential roles in Lebanon should leave the country; a small number of officials will remain to provide consular support.
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong stated that due to the deteriorating security situation, Australian personnel in Lebanon who are in non-essential roles have been instructed to leave the country, and only a small number of staff will remain in Lebanon to provide consular support to Australian citizens.
Wong also noted that Australian citizens can register on the crisis portal opened for Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Iran, Israel, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and those in need of urgent consular assistance can contact the relevant centers.
