U.S. issues travel warning for Venezuela
Washington, Jan. 3 (Hibya) — The United States Embassy in Bogota warned its citizens against traveling to Venezuela following reports of explosions in and around Caracas.
The U.S. Embassy in Bogota, Colombia’s capital, issued a security alert after reports of explosions in Venezuela’s capital Caracas and nearby areas. In the statement, U.S. citizens were urged not to travel to Venezuela under any circumstances, while those currently in the country were advised to remain where they are and depart as soon as it is safe.
It was recalled that Venezuela is listed at the highest level of the U.S. travel advisory system, “Level 4: Do Not Travel.” The advisory is based on risks including arbitrary detention, terrorism threats, kidnapping, high crime rates, civil unrest, and inadequate health infrastructure.
