Tsahkna condemns penalties imposed on Yabloko party
Tallinn, August 18 (Hibya) - Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna condemned the severe penalties imposed on the Yabloko party and party member Lev Shlosberg.
Tsahkna said the cases in question were “politically motivated,” stating that the proceedings once again demonstrated the Kremlin's “fear of genuine political competition” and its determination to prevent the Russian people from having a real choice in elections.
Tsahkna reiterated his criticism of political processes in Russia, calling on the Russian authorities to “ensure free and democratic elections, release political prisoners and respect freedom of expression.”
