Nasdaq rises in US markets, Dow Jones declines
US market indices followed a mixed course. The Dow Jones fell 0.70 percent to 53,185.90 points, while the S&P 500 lost 0.33 percent, falling to 7,686.14 points. The Nasdaq, meanwhile, rose 0.08 percent to 29,456.97 points. The S&P 500 VIX index also increased 3.40 percent to 14.92.
Among other market indicators, the Dollar Index rose 0.08 percent to 99.465, while gold fell 0.14 percent to $4,475.29. The yield on the US 10-year Treasury bond increased 0.59 percent to 4.786.
In the US, the Dow Jones Transportation Average fell 0.36 percent, the Dow Jones Utility Average declined 1.40 percent and the NYSE Composite Index dropped 0.50 percent, while the Russell 2000 fell 0.54 percent.
