Hegseth stated that, by order of President Donald Trump, the most lethal, most complex and most precise comprehensive air operation in history, named “Operation Epic Fury,” has been initiated.

Arguing that Iran rejected the opportunity to make a deal, Hegseth said: “Now they are facing the consequences. For nearly fifty years, Iran has targeted and killed Americans and has always sought the most powerful weapons in the world to advance its radical aims. Last night, in a way no president before him has done, President Trump began fighting this ‘cancer.’”

Stressing that the US will not tolerate missile threats, Hegseth said: “We will not tolerate powerful missiles targeting the American people. These missiles will be destroyed along with Iran’s missile production. The Iranian navy will be eliminated. And as President Trump has said throughout his life, Iran will never possess a nuclear weapon.”

Noting that the United States did not start this conflict but will end it, Hegseth stated: “If you kill or threaten Americans anywhere in the world, we will hunt you down and kill you.”
