Czech President Pavel hosts human rights activist Bialiatski
Prague, March 17 (Hibya) - Ales Bialiatski, who was unjustly imprisoned in Belarus for over seven years, met with Czech President Petr Pavel; the continuation of sanctions and Belarusians’ right to a free future were discussed.
Czech President Pavel received human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Bialiatski.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that sanctions against the Belarusian regime should remain in force as long as it continues to imprison critics and suppress civil liberties. Pavel and Bialiatski agreed that Belarusians should have the right to determine their future freely and without external interference.
Ales Bialiatski also stated that European countries should not close their doors to Belarusian citizens, noting that this approach would help them overcome the isolation they face.
