BBC seeks dismissal of Trump’s compensation lawsuit
Florida, January 13 (Hibya) – The management of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has filed a motion with a court in the U.S. state of Florida seeking the dismissal of the compensation lawsuit filed by U.S. President Donald Trump against the media organization.
According to Sky News, citing court documents, the BBC believes that the Florida court lacks jurisdiction over the case because the documentary was neither filmed nor shown in Florida. In addition, the president failed to prove that the BBC broadcast the documentary in bad faith.
Trump filed the lawsuit against the BBC after it emerged that two statements from a speech he delivered on January 6, 2021 were combined in a documentary to form a single whole.
