Al-Thani speaks with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi
Doha, May 10 (Hibya) - Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani held a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
According to a statement by Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
During the call, efforts to achieve regional peace and strengthen security and stability were discussed. Qatar reiterated its support for mediation initiatives aimed at resolving the crisis through peaceful means, emphasizing that the participation of all parties in the negotiation process would help reduce tensions.
Al-Thani also stressed that freedom of navigation at sea is a fundamental principle, warning that closing the Strait of Hormuz or using it as a means of pressure would escalate regional tensions and negatively affect global energy and food supply chains.
The statement highlighted the importance of adherence to international law and the United Nations Charter, noting that taking into account the interests of regional countries is critical for stability and de-escalation.
