WHO: More than 1 billion people worldwide live with obesity
Geneva, December 2 (Hibya) – The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that more than 1 billion people globally are living with obesity, and this number is expected to double by 2030.
The WHO stated that more than 1 billion people around the world are living with obesity, and that this figure is expected to double by 2030.
The organization released new recommendations on the use of GLP-1 medications to treat obesity in adults, noting that these drugs are powerful tools but that no single medication can solve the global obesity crisis.
The statement emphasized that obesity is a complex disease requiring comprehensive, lifelong care and coordinated action across many sectors: “GLP-1 medications offer hope to millions around the world, and equal access must be ensured for everyone who needs them.”
