Trump says 10 Israeli hostages will be released from Gaza "very soon"
Washington, July 19 (Hibya) – U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday at the White House that ten more hostages would be released from Gaza "very soon." This news comes as the president continues his efforts for a 60-day ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
Speaking at a dinner with Republican senators, Trump said, "We have gotten most of the hostages back. Very soon, 10 more hostages will come, and we hope this will be completed quickly." Trump also praised Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, calling him "great."
The current Israel-Hamas ceasefire proposal includes the return of 10 hostages and 18 bodies. In exchange, Israel will be required to release an unspecified number of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.
Earlier Friday, Axios reported that the director of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad visited Washington this week in hopes of supporting U.S. efforts to resettle hundreds of thousands of Palestinians living in Gaza in other countries. Mossad chief David Barnea told Witkoff that Israel is discussing placing Palestinians in Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Libya.
