Silva spoke by phone with U.S. President Trump
Santa Marta, 2 December (Hibya) – Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva held a telephone conversation with the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Brazilian President Lula da Silva stated that he spoke with U.S. President Trump by phone and that during their 40-minute conversation, they had a highly productive discussion on trade and economic agendas, as well as the fight against organized crime.
Silva noted that the U.S. decision to remove the additional 40% tariff imposed on certain Brazilian products, such as meat, coffee, and fruit, was very positive, and added:
“I emphasized that other products still subject to tariffs should also be addressed between the two countries, and that Brazil wishes to move quickly in these negotiations. I highlighted the urgency of strengthening cooperation with the United States in combating international organized crime.”
Silva said that Trump expressed full readiness to work together with Brazil and to fully support joint initiatives between the two countries, adding, “We agreed to speak again soon about the progress of these initiatives.”
