Ghebreyesus: Power generator damaged in attack on Kamal Adwan Hospital
Geneva, November 22 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced that the power generator of the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza was damaged in an attack.
WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus stated that Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza was targeted by a drone attack last night, causing damage to the power generator upon which the hospital fully relies.
Ghebreyesus highlighted that the oxygen system was rendered non-operational due to the attack: "Due to ongoing hostilities and severely restricted access, the hospital cannot repair the damage. The water tank was also damaged, and the hospital currently has no water. The attack injured four hospital staff and two patient escorts. WHO expresses deep concern for the safety and well-being of 80 patients, including 8 in intensive care, and the hospital staff."
Ghebreyesus emphasized that Kamal Adwan Hospital is one of the two partially functioning hospitals in northern Gaza: "We demand an immediate end to hostilities around the hospital and continuous access for humanitarian missions to provide life-saving support."
